Doug is the founder and CEO of Derby City Vending. He was born and raised in Louisville, making this the perfect place to establish his own business. Mr. Wheeler started his first vending route in 1971 with just himself and a truck. We have come a long way since then! Despite the company’s growth and success over the years, Doug has been careful to maintain the same family atmosphere and small-business values Derby City Vending was built on. He is always looking out for his customers and employees first and himself second. Doug’s desire for Derby City Vending to offer fresh, healthy food with fast, friendly service and quality equipment has garnered him the reputation of being one of the most respected and well-liked business owners in the entire region. During the past 44 years of leading a successful locally-owned vending company, Doug has always felt it important to stay involved in the local community as well. Kim Foskey Money Room
Kim, an Anna, IL native, moved to Louisville when her husband’s job transferred them and she came on at Derby City Vending shortly thereafter. She is extremely organized and meticulous so Kim is a perfect fit to oversee our money room. She loves working for a small, locally-owned company where everyone is nice and friendly and genuinely enjoys what they’re doing. In her free time, Kim loves spending time with her husband and their dog, traveling and going to concerts.
Rachel Hart Controller
Rachel has been an incredibly valuable member of the Derby City Vending team since 2012 when she came on board as our controller, bringing with her both food service and management experience. Rachel is kind, hardworking and flexible, and has never met a task she couldn’t handle. She loves working for a company where her input and ideas are valued, and where she is able to know all of her fellow employees on a personal level. In her free time, Rachel enjoys Crossfit® training five days a week, writing and playing music, and spending time with her boyfriend and his daughter.
Tabatha Duncan Deli Team Member
Tabatha has played an important role in our deli as our quality control member. She works with our Chef’s to ensure our the freshest food is being sent to our accounts. With a background in culinary arts from Sullivan and several professional deli experiences ranging over five years, she brings a sharp eye to our food services.
Don Scott Team Leader
Since he started in 2014, Don has been an asset to our DCV team. Before coming to Derby City Vending, Don was a restaurant manager for 22 years and uses that knowledge to improve his service. He is excellent with quality control and maintaining food freshness at each of his route locations. He is a key team member for customer relations. When Don is off work, he volunteers as a fireman in Southern Indiana. He also enjoys biking and golfing.
Joe Storz Maintenance Technician
With years experience as an owner of his own Vending company, Joe is a natural at vending maintenance. He is comfortable working with customers and is passionate about providing quality service. He has been valuable to our team due to his willingness to help wherever needed. He is a great team player. When Joe is not working on machines you can find him working on remote control planes and cars or going to activities of one of his 4 kids!
Peggy Wheeler Vice President, Sales and Public Relations
Peggy graduated from the University of Louisville with a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree with an emphasis on Graphic Design. Her eye for detail and creativity took her to Derby City Litho where she worked for 6 years in their sales division. In 1994, she began working for Derby City Vending as a Sales Representative and, after a short time, became Vice President of Public Relations and Sales. It didn’t take long for her to realize a need for wellness in the workplace and she began developing ways for her company to partner with its accounts to help improve the healthiness of their employees. Over the past 20 years that she has been with Derby City Vending, Peggy has seen her goal of promoting the health and wellness of her own employees, as well as the employees of countless businesses all across the Louisville and Indiana region, take shape. From providing fresh, healthy food to accounts on a daily basis, to coordinating health fairs, lunch and learns and chef demonstrations, to developing a nutritionally-balanced, 400 calories-or-less “Stay Fit” menu, Derby City Vending has been a pioneer in an industry that otherwise disregards the health and wellness of its customers. When she is not working hard on behalf of Derby City Vending, Peggy enjoys horseback riding and traveling out west.
Amber Berkompas Administrative Assistant
Amber has meshed her experience in the fresh food industry and years of customer service by joining us here at Derby City Vending. She has called Louisville home for about 7 years now, and is originally from Michigan. She is very passionate about helping others in any way she can. While not working, she loves spending time with her son, exploring new meal ideas, and enjoying the great outdoors. She is very excited to be a part of the Derby City Vending team and looks forward to getting to know each of you!
Heather Luckett Executive Chef
Heather is our Executive Chef overseeing all of our services from vending to catering. She knows great food and plans great menus to prove it. With her knowledge and creativity, we have been able to expand our vending menu past fresh food to include more variety, provide more specials, and expand our healthy fresh vending options. Before coming to Derby City Vending, Heather worked as the Culinary Manager for Bonefish Grill in Florida.
Brad Risinger Warehouse Manager
Shawn is the Warehouse Manager at Derby City Vending; however, he’s really more of a jack-of-all-trades. If something needs to get done, you can always count on Shawn to step in to get the job done! We are thrilled to have as a part of our team. In his free time, Shawn likes going golfing or fishing and watching sports.
Mike Quintin Maintenance Technician
Mike Quintin has been a wonderful addition to the Derby City Vending Maintenance Team. Mike is constantly offering a wealth of information and lending his expertise to ensure that potential issues are resolved before they ever happen and that every customer is well taken care of. Mike is extremely personable, hardworking and can always be found with a smile on his face! Outside of vending, Mike enjoys cooking and working on cars.
Brent Garrett Route Manager
Brent Garrett joins us from several years in the customer service industry. He is customer focused and strives to make each encounter enjoyable for our account contacts. Brent is also a great asset to our route management team, because of his positive attitude and willingness to help!
Danielle Renfrow Route Manager
Danielle comes to us from the food service industry, working as a manager at Fazoli's. Her knowledge of proper food handling and customer service skills are key components of what makes her a great Route Manager. Danielle services our Fresh Food Cafes and makes sure they are operating flawlessly. Her attention to detail and positive attitude are seen by each account she works with. When Danielle is not servicing the cafes, you can find her baking cakes or playing volleyball.
Todd Wheeler Chief Operations Officer
Todd was born and raised here in Louisville and he was destined to be in the vending business! He grew up with Derby City Vending and loves that he gets to be a part of the family business. Todd developed a passion for food while attending Sullivan University where he studied culinary arts. He went on to spend many years as the general manager of multiple prestigious restaurants in the Louisville area before taking his role as a leader in the Derby City kitchen and catering department. These days Todd wears many hats at Derby City Vending and can always be found working hard right along-side his employees. You can always count on him to do whatever it takes to get the job done! Todd’s vast knowledge of food and his humble leadership make him uniquely qualified to oversee all the daily operations here at Derby City Vending. When asked, Todd says that his favorite part of working here is the meaningful relationships he is able to build with both employees and customers, and the constant challenge to make DCV a better company today than it was yesterday. When he’s not working, Todd enjoys spending time with his kids, traveling, bike riding through Kentuckiana and attending UofL sporting events.
Heather Jones Marketing and PR
Heather was born and raised in Louisville. She has recently graduated from the University of Kentucky with a degree in Business Management and Marketing. Heather has joined the Derby City Vending team to help with our Marketing and Public Relations. She will be keeping us up to date on our social media pages, as well as keeping in touch with all of our existing accounts to ensure that we are providing the best experience we can for our customers. She is motivated and enthusiastic about being at Derby City Vending. In her free time, Heather enjoys volunteering at Kosiar Children’s Hospital, playing volleyball, and being outdoors.
Jason Roberts Deli Team Member
Jason is a Louisville native and food lover! He most recently worked for The Bard’s Town for over three years preparing food and working with customers. His food is always prepared with the utmost care and that is what makes him so valuable at Derby City Vending. He is passionate about good food and we are lucky to benefit! When Jason isn’t creating eye-pleasing dishes, he can be found in the Highlands.
Roy Ashcraft Team Leader
iAs one of our Team Leaders, Roy has created a strong group dynamic with our route managers. He was a general manager for several years before coming to Derby City Vending and he also has served as a firefighter for 28 years. His favorite part about working with DCV is his daily interaction with customers on his route. When he isn’t at work, Roy enjoys spending time with his wife and grandchildren.
Joe Hobbic Route Manager
Joe started out at Derby City Vending as a hard working, quick-witted member of our deli team – you could always count on him to get the job done! His work ethic and positive attitude made him a natural fit when we began looking to add an additional route manager to our team. He, like so many of our employees, is a Louisville native and loves working for a company that was born in this town as well. Before bringing his charm and work ethic to the Derby City Vending kitchen, Joe spent nearly a decade working in the food service industry. His passion for food and attention to detail has made Joe a valuable and much loved member of our team. When he’s not hard at work servicing his accounts or assisting our catering department, Joe enjoys computer programming, gaming and watching movies with his wife.
Victoria Lujan Route Manager
Coming to Derby City Vending with food service experience, Victoria has become a great member of our team. Her experiences in the food industry make her an excellent route manager! Victoria is our customer service expert. She is very attentive to her accounts and makes sure all of their requests are met. In her free time you can find Victoria working on cars, eating Mexican food and spending time with her son.
